About Us
We're Karin, a self-confessed wool addict, and Thommy, the master of the leather department. We've been tinkering, building, sewing, crafting, knitting, crocheting, and felting for ages, and we spend every free minute we have. For us, nothing beats the wonderful feeling of creating something beautiful and extraordinary with our own hands. Over the years, we've worked with many inexpensive and even more high-quality materials and have come to the conclusion that only high-quality raw materials produce truly beautiful and long-lasting results—and that investing all that time is worthwhile. We'd like to share our joy of crafting and handcrafting with you online. It doesn't matter whether you're already really good at it or just feel like making something every now and then.
Simple things made from good material are often the most beautiful.
Even though we offer vegan wool and soon vegan leather, we enjoy working with animal-based materials. We are aware that these materials generate enormous profits on the global market, and this pursuit of financial growth often results in animals potentially suffering for our hobbies and workers receiving meager wages. We absolutely do not want to support this and question our suppliers before deciding to offer something in our product range. Suppliers and manufacturers who are unwilling to discuss their products with us or who know nothing about their origins will not find a place in our product range.
The majority of our yarns are made from certified fibers that have been verified for their origin, non-toxic manufacturing process, and fair wages. If a yarn isn't certified, we provide other evidence of fair treatment of animals, people, and the environment.
In the field of leather production, there are only a tiny number of relevant certifications, which are so expensive for manufacturers that hardly anyone can afford them. Therefore, we source our goods exclusively from suppliers who commission tanneries directly for production and can set corresponding quality standards. One of our suppliers, for example, bases its specifications on the Oeko-Tex Standard 100. All of our hides come exclusively from animals primarily used for meat production; you won't find any leather from wild or even endangered species here.
We can always get passionate about unnecessary packaging and strive to avoid it as much as possible or at least reuse it. Our online offering should be a benefit to our customers—not an unnecessary burden on the environment.
