Latvian textile expert and founder of Senā klēts, Maruta Grasmane, has dedicated her latest book to Latvian ethnographic mittens. After extensive research on this topic at the National History Museum of Latvia, the Liepaja Museum, and the Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum, the author selected 178 pairs of mittens from the 18th to the 20th centuries that best characterize mitten knitting in the traditions of Latvia's various regions.
The illustrations and graphics of the published mittens provide readers with an overview of the variety of ornamental patterns used and serve as extensive inspiration for their own handicrafts. A must-have for color pattern lovers.
